TechforEd: 5th Grade 1:1 Chromebook Initiative

"TechforEd" is Jeffco Public Schools' district-wide 1:1 initiative, starting in the 2019-20 school year. As a part of this initiative, all incoming fifth and ninth grade students will pay a technology fee that will assign them a Chromebook for the next four years. In addition to the fee, families can -- and are encouraged to -- purchase one of the warranty options as soon as possible after their student receives his/her device.

At Dutch Creek, fifth grade students received their Lenovo 300e Chromebook, charger, and protective case in August. Students will be taking these devices home shortly after deployment. Once devices go home, students are expected to bring them back fully charged every day. They are not to remove the protective cover, but can add stickers to it. They are also unable to add or remove any apps/programs/games/etc. on this device unless approved by the school. Please help your student keep their Chromebooks charged and safe from damage. More information will be available to families in November.

All fifth grade students take part in weekly digital citizenship classes with our Digital Teacher Librarian in addition to digital citizenship integrated into other core subjects. Our focus for August/September is understanding our digital footprints. We will focus on general device care when students receive their devices. Please see the TechforEd website for more information and resources.
